🐑 Passover and The Passion of the Christ

This week, with Passover observed on one end (dated by lunar calendar), and Easter observed on the other (dated by solar calendar), we're celebrating the same Pesach/Pascua/Paschal/Passover event all week long, remembering that the innocent, spotless lamb/Lamb of God was slain.

Jesus entered the physical realm, enduring unspeakable betrayal in order to gain victory over all forms of death. If you haven't seen The Passion of the Christ movie by Mel Gibson, make this the year to see and feel what Jesus did out of his great love for you. It's disturbing and disquieting—not for children. 

Through every painful scene, Jesus did not lash out, but stayed focused on his identity and mission, connecting with individuals, pouring his heart into them through his gaze, asking his father to forgive his betrayers.

Let his eyes find yours and lock on despite his agony. It’s a gift to ponder for a life time. 

To be loved but not known is comforting but superficial.
To be known and not loved is our greatest fear.
But to be fully known and truly loved is, well, a lot like being loved by God.
